OSHAWA, ON – It was a hard fought battle but the Peterborough Timbermen of the Arena Lacrosse League lost their first contest of 2017 on Saturday to the St. Catharines Shockwave 9-8 at the Tribute Communities Centre in Oshawa.
The Timbermen played catch-up all game long but tied the game at eight late in the fourth quarter before Bryan Neufeld scored the Shockwave’s winning goal.
Nolan Clayton started in goal for the Timbermen and faced 38 shots, surrendering five goals on the power play. The Timbermen fired 36 on the Shockwave.
Matt Crough led the Timbermen with three goals and two assists while recently signed Josh Wasson had two goals and three assists.
“Our first game was a true feeling out process that all teams have to go through. Some will do it faster than others,” said head coach and general manager Joe Sullivan. “Today’s game was fast-paced, very intense and exciting and one that had many mistakes that were from opposition pressure.”
The Timbermen’s next game is Saturday, January 14 at 7:00pm at the TCC versus the Oshawa Outlaws. They will play home games at the Peterborough Memorial Centre on February 26 and March 19. Tickets for those games are on sale now at the PMC box office.
