Rochester Knighthawks General Manager and Vice President of Lacrosse Operations Dan Carey announced today that the team has signed defensemen Brett Coons to a two-year contract. The transaction is pending league approval.
Coons recently completed his third season with the Peterborough Lakers of Major Series Lacrosse, where he helped the team claim three Mann Cup national championships in a row. In addition to three seasons with the Lakers, Coons has also played three years with the Peterborough Timbermen of the Arena Lacrosse League from 2017-2019. In 39 career games with the Timbermen, the 6-foot-2, 210-pound defenseman registered two goals, 13 assists and 15 points and is a dominant force on faceoffs.
Coons, a Peterborough, Ontario native, played in 16 contests with the Ennismore James Gang of the Ontario Senior B Lacrosse League, collecting 12 points on a pair of goals and 10 assists.
