The Peterborough Timbermen made a pair of trades this week as they continue to tweak their roster.
Goaltender Troi Benedict was sent to the Whitby Steelhawks for a draft pick after falling in the depth chart behind Will Johnston and Steven Walsh. Benedict, a 2019 Timbermen draft pick, played seven games for the Timbermen in 2020 with a 1-3 record and 16.56 GAA. He backed up Lukas Coote in his first game with the Steelhawks this weekend, a 9-7 win over the Paris RiverWolves.
Timbermen head coach Joe Sullivan made sure to call Benedict to personally thank him for his contribution to the team.
“Troi is a great teammate, and a very dedicated player, and we expect he’ll be able to contribute to the Steelhawks,” said Sullivan.
The Timbermen also sent defender Joe Wasson to the Oshawa Outlaws for a draft pick. Wasson had been with the Timbermen since their inception in 2017 but had yet to suit up for a game this season.
“Joe is a tremendous athlete,” Sullivan said. “With our depth this year I wasn’t sure we could find room for him in our lineup, but I want him to keep playing.”
Wasson appeared in 42 games for the Timbermen since 2017, contributing eight goals and 25 assists.
Parker Sands and Cam Crowe have also decided to step away from the game to focus more on their careers outside of lacrosse.
