The Peterborough Timbermen will face the Oshawa Outlaws this coming Sunday, April 10th at 1 p.m. at Brampton’s Memorial Arena in the Arena Lacrosse League quarterfinals.
The Timbermen and Outlaws finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the ALL standings, with identical 5-7 records. The Timbermen beat the Outlaws by a single goal in their head-to-head matchups to earn fourth place.
The St. Catharines ShockWave and Toronto Monarchs, who finished sixth and seventh, face a play-in game on Saturday. The winner meets the third place Paris RiverWolves on Sunday in the other quarterfinal. The second place Whitby Steelhawks and first place Six Nations Snipers await the quarterfinal winners at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Ohsweken the next weekend for the league’s final four.
Every game is single-elimination.
The Timbermen and Outlaws split their season series with one win apiece. The Timbermen defeated the Outlaws 10-8 back in February and then fell 13-12 this past weekend.
“Heading into playoffs everyone should know what’s at stake,” said recently named Timbermen captain Brine Rice. “We do match up well against Oshawa. We know who they run their offense around, so we need to be aware and ready for what they bring.”
While the Timbermen eagerly await the day they can host a playoff game at Millbrook Arena, “playing in a neutral arena doesn’t change anything for us; if anything, it will help us out with our transition game,” said Rice. “I think we push the ball better so we will have to make it count when we need to. Playoffs are a different atmosphere. We will not fear anyone that’s in our way.”
Tickets will be sold at the door of Memorial Arena. Fans unable to make the trip can watch the Timbermen’s social media channels for updates, and a full game recap at www.peterboroughtimbermen.com the next day.
