The Peterborough Timbermen made a significant trade on Thursday, acquiring three players and a first-round draft pick from the Oshawa Outlaws.

Coming to Peterborough are Cole Hanrahan, Keegan White and Matt Brenzel.

Hanrahan, from Huntsville, currently plays at Trent University, where he won the Baggataway Cup last fall, and for the Sr. B Ennismore James Gang. He appeared in three games as a call-up for the MSL’s Peterborough Lakers in 2022, scoring three goals and one assist.

“Cole is a player that we tried to get in the offseason but we weren’t lucky enough at the time,” said head coach Joe Sullivan. “He’s a great athlete. Getting a player like Cole makes us a much better team today and a great team building for the future. Cole has a great outside shot and a great lacrosse IQ. We’ll be looking for him to play strong with Riley Curtis on the left side. We want Cole to develop his game to the highest potential and hopefully we are able to leverage that in the win column going forward.”

White is a forward from Ajax, who scored four points in 11 games over two seasons with Oshawa. He has also played for the Sr. B Brooklin Merchants.

Brenzel is a forward who played for the Jr. C Barrie Bombers and collegiately at Dalhousie University. He scored one goal in three games with Oshawa this season as a rookie.

Headed to Oshawa are the rights to Cam Milligan and Mark Farthing. Both players were acquired by Peterborough during the offseason from Whitby after the Steelhawks appointed a new head coach, but neither ever reported to the Timbermen.

“They are veteran players that wanted to win now and not wait for our rebuild,” said Sullivan. “I give them all the credit as veterans in this league, that have accomplished so much they should go for it. Those types of opportunities don’t come often.”

The Timbermen will get some help in goal this weekend with the return of Ethan Woods after his release from the Vancouver Warriors. Woods split goaltending duties with Nick Damude (now starting for Panther City in the NLL) during the 2019 season. Woods then spent two years as the backup goaltender for the New England BlackWolves/Albany FireWolves.

This Saturday, February 18, Peterborough is on the road to face Whitby at 7 p.m. at Children’s Arena in Oshawa.

The Timbermen’s next home game is Saturday, February 25 at 2 p.m. at Millbrook Arena vs the Paris River Wolves. Tickets will be available at the door. To view the Timbermen’s full schedule, visit https://www.peterboroughtimbermen.com/schedule/.
