Timbermen to face Snipers in quarterfinals

It’s playoff time in the Arena Lacrosse League!

The Peterborough Timbermen finished in 5th place in the league’s final standings, with a 7-7 record. By virtue of a final-game loss to Whitby, and Six Nations winning their final game, the Timbermen will visit the Snipers for a one-game quarterfinal, scheduled for today at 4 p.m. at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.

The Timbermen went 5-2 in the first half of the season but only 2-5 in the back half. Their last win was a thrilling 18-17 OT win over Toronto on March 8.

Fifth place is the best finish the Timbermen have achieved in three seasons since they placed fourth in 2022. Last season they were 7th and in 2023 they finished last. Peterborough has yet to win a playoff round in their history, having been eliminated in the quarterfinals every season (except for 2020, when they sat in third but the season was cancelled due to COVID).

The Snipers, who also finished 7-7, struggled for the early part of the season but came together for a strong finish down the stretch. They won both games over Peterborough during the regular season, giving them the tiebreaker and home-floor advantage.

The game will be recorded and uploaded to the league’s YouTube channel. You can follow the live stats at https://www.arenalacrosseleague.ca/stats#/248/game/1012580/preview.
